From Bread & Roses Presents, May 2015

“It was a wonderful evening of jazz and swing . . . the audience was immediately engaged and grooved with the music . . . an extraordinary version of “Take 5.”  Stacey’s scat solo of Paul Desmond’s saxophone work and Barry’s fabulous guitar solo resulted in a very loud and animated audience response.”

“Alan sang a beautiful version of “Chege de Saudade” (No More Blues)” in Portuguese.  This song and “Poinciana” with their lilting Bossa Nova and Latin rhythms had the audience staring quietly transfixed by the sound.  Barry’s amazing guitar solos were outstanding and received enthusiastic audience responses.”

“The highlight of the evening was a stunning version of Monk’s “Round Midnight. ”  The music and their vocalese treatment of the song was hauntingly beautiful.  The powerful lyrics seemed to really resonate with the audience.”

“Good music, done well . . .audience members were effusive with their words of appreciation . . .”
